This hotel was fantastic. The breakfast was wonderful and the spa was very relaxing. The rooftop bar allowed us to enjoy sunshine and cava in a tranquil setting and the views over Barcelona were magnificent. The barstaff were friendly and attentive. Although expensive the whole experience was excellent.

Top Tip

The open top bus was a very inexpensive way to get round the city and see the wonderful architecture.

The hotel was superb the only thing that spoiled it slightly was that the spa which is located in the basement played music very loudly until 2am and we could here it even though we were on the 4th floor and the windows were double glazed.The reception staff were extremely professional and helpful.

Top Tip

The museum of the history of the city of Barcelona is a must, the roman remains in the museum were spectacular. Los Caracolles restaurant just off the bottom of Las Ramblas was great but book or be prepared to queue.

Really nice hotel with very friendly staff. Slight mix-up over our room when we were checking in and as a result we were immediately upgraded to a room with a terrace.

Top Tip

Eat at Los Caracoles for a special dining experience, a bit pricey but worth it.

Great location right on the Rambla. We were a little worried as previous reviews stated staff unhelpful but we found them all to be very friendly and helpful with booking restaurants/taxi back to the airport. Check bill when checking out as we were charged twice for a meal and overcharged for bar drinks...had to get the bar receipts to prove it. We stayed in a standard room which was big enough....ladies hairdryer one of those that you have to keep hold of the button so glad I took my own, no dressing table mirror. Shower great. We asked for a high floor and a quiet room as we were worried about the noise and this was fine. Spa area small and not enough chairs to sit on around the pool but lovely otherwise, book treatments as soon as you get there to avoid disappointment, treatments are mostly massages, no pedicure/manicures or facials unfortunately.

Top Tip

Be careful with bags ladies, nearly had my purse pinched out of my bag by a group of young girls in a shop.

This is a very chic hotel at which we have stayed before. We liked it so much we went back. H1898 is very central for sightseeing, restaurants etc and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Top Tip

Try restaurante 'Les qinze nitz' in Placa Reial, just off La Rambla. Food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Be sure to see Sagrada Familia (Gaudi) and Picasso Museum.

bar staff let hotel down as very slow although friendly and remembered our preferences. Overall staff were welcoming and helpful.
