Catalonia Ramblas Hotel

When we arrived we were told that we would not be staying at this Hotel that it was was not hotel we booked?? I had the internet booking printed off and they still disputed it which was really annoying..Funny cos it definately WAS!!we were given no explanation as to why we were being moved to their sister hotel Hotel Berna, which was a good 15/20 mins walk to la ramblas and not as nice as this hotel. The staff on the desk were not very helpful and to be honest I think they had over booked and just wanted to get rid of us. When we got to the sister hotel Berna the hotel receptionist told us that the catalonia had a problem with it water ... yeah right.. as the next day we seen people checking in. All in all disappointed at the lack of explanation but the hotel is beautiful, trendy and has a nice relaxing pool area that we used even though we were shunted off to the other hotel. Its a bit pricey though a can of diet coke by the pool was a staggering €5.00 TOTAL RIP OFF!!!

Top Tip

Definately do the open bus tour , 2 days is better value at €26 , one day is €20, also look in the voucher booklet for discounts into different attractions. Good pubs are My Bar and any of the Irish Bars!!!

Excellent hotel. Location perfect. Room fantastic. only one small downfall - indoor spa facility not fully available at time of stay, and quite small.

Top Tip

Use the airport bus rather than taxis - taxi 28 euros, bus 4.10 euros each and every six minutes from the square. also use the tour bus to discover the city, 20 euros for one day or 26 euros for two days.

The Hotel is very convenient to Airport Bus at Plaza Catalonya (200m) and the Ramblas. Had a room on second floor over the entrance and slept perfectly each night because balcony window soundproofed. Pool a great bonus on hot days. Did'nt use reataurant in hotel so cannot comment. Plenty of alternatives downtown. Recommend Place Real for good value.

Location is brilliant as close to La Ramblas and the main shopping streets and sites. The rooms are very well designed with a double door between the entrance,bathroom and the bedroom. This enable the guest to have full night rest with disturbance at all. The hotel breakfast was one of the best I have come accross even during my business travels. I will use it again.

The hotel was modern and clean. There was a convention on the weekend we arrived and although we had booked, four months previously, four twin rooms we had been booked into double rooms. They were aware they were twin room booking but just said "sorry we are busy". They did offer free massages in spa to compensate though! The bar service was very slow as well but this was because of convention. Lovely food and great facilities. Would stay again, minus convention!!

We travelled as a family of 5 and were given adjacent rooms as requested, this does not always happen. The rooms were really nice, the breakfasts were very good with a full and wide selection. The location was excellent, but a beer in the hotel was very expensive a glass of wine was more reasonable.

Top Tip

Make your first job a ride on the open topped bus, which stops across the road.From then on you will know where you want to spend your time and money.
