I booked a twin room & got a double room which was extrememly small. After approaching reception staff twice I eventually got changed to a twin room but it was just for 1 night which was disappointing.

When we arrived the receptionist continuted her phone call for ages without even a nod of her head for acknoweldgement. She then said they had no details of the booking and the hotel was full. Eventually she said come back in three hours and they would have a room. No apologies for her error. The room we were given was so small that there was barely room to walk around the edge of the bed. My friend and I complained to the new receptionist who found us a much bigger better room. Great location, close to everything you could need.

We booked this hotel quite late (a few days before our stay) and perhaps as a consequence paid more than this hotel was worth. Whilst it was reasonably well placed close to La Ramblas (which we also thought was very much over-hyped) and Placa Catalunya (which is excellent as a starting point for tours of the city) it was very basic, had no views (we kept the curtains closed to avoid having to look at the concrete walls at the rear, where our room was located) and you could easily walk past it without realising - its probably the most non-descript hotel facade in the whole of Barcelona. A better bet - our view - for anyone visiting the city for the first time, is to find a decent hotel nearer the port where there seems to be more going on, and certainly a more attractive area.

Top Tip

The small tapas bar (Gaudi Tapas) near the hotel was really welcoming, the staff very friendly, and the food great. Also has a very expensive but fantastic meal at one of the port-side fish restaurants near the Port. Well worth pushing the boat out for a special occasion perhaps.

This hotel was excellent value for money and ideally placed,close to La Rambla,metro stations and buses.The room and bathroom were both a decent size and spotlessly clean.Breakfast was adequate with a good choice available.The reception area was very impersonal and staff on duty were polite but not terribly friendly.This was a good choice for a short break holiday and I would recommend it to friends.

Top Tip

Visit the fish restaurants in Barcelonneta - beautiful fresh fish on offer. Make sure you see the market which is just of the La Ramblas,the produce displayed is amazing!!!!!!

reception staff were not very friendly as we entered or left the hotel. Everyone else was friendly and hard working though. Facilties only got an average score because we didn't book anywhere with great facilities. If all you want is a clean, good value hotel 100m from NE corner of PLaza de Catalunya then this is the Hotel for you! Although do take ear plugs as with tile floors, every chair or furniture scrape is amplified throughout the hotel and is really noisy. (perhaps we just had a noisy room!)

Top Tip

Do the bus trip, but not the Blue Official one. The Orange buses are cheaper, do almost exactly the same route and are nowhere near as busy!

basic hotel. - a bit hostel like. perhaps the spanish don't do tea and coffee making facilities in rooms, but that was what was missing! Difficult to adjust air con.. room was chilly for first night. Good breakfast ...even if you had to get it all your self including cooking your own toast! Had safe in room, which didn't have to pay for - that was good. Near all main tourist facilities and attractions - great.
